From the beginning of the last century, Poetto's main activities were related to salt extraction.

It was only at the end of the 19th century that the people of Cagliari began to move away from the city centre during the summer months to flock to the shoreline, enjoy the “sea baths” and appreciate the white dunes that surrounded this corner of paradise.

In 1914, Gaetano Usai built the first structure of the Lido, which has survived to the present day with various improvements and renovations, with the sole aim of always giving the best to all those who daily flock to the historic establishment.

Today, the Lido has more than 1,000 cabins of different sizes, a restaurant by the sea, a bar, a pizzeria, an indoor and outdoor disco, a lidotheque, a shopping centre, a sports area, bike hire, a club house and areas reserved for events, toilets, cold and hot showers.

The establishment is open all year round for helium and balneotherapy, while the bathing season starts on 1 June and ends on 30 September.
